Yanke Bionics - Lumbar Sacral Orthoses

Lumbar Sacral Corset

Wear and care for your garment

At your initial fitting, our clinicians will take considerable time making sure the orthosis fits properly. Be sure to tell the clinician that is fitting your orthosis if the device feels uncomfortable or causes pain.

* An orthosis is of no help if it does not fit correctly or is uncomfortable

Application:

  • Release buckles each time you take the garment off, and open the garment out to the fullest extent
  • When putting the garment on, snap or hook the fasteners from the bottom up
  • Tighten lower pull-straps slightly, pulling equally on both sides
  • With the garment fitting loosely, adjust it to its proper position and pull the lower pull-straps so the garment fits firmly and snugly around the hips
  • Adjust the top pull-straps firmly but comfortably
  • Be sure that pull-straps as pulled straight and evenly through buckles (never upward or downward as this will cause straps to fray and wear unnecessarily
  • Fasten and adjust hose supporters or leg straps only after garment is in correct position and pull-straps have been correctly adjusted.
  • Garment should be worn over cotton undergarment.

Hints to make your garment last longer:

  • Tears, snags, or holes should be mended as soon as they appear, especially before the garment is washed
  • Elastic fabrics may be damaged by excessive heat, oils, greases, solvents, and ointments.
  • If required to wear a support permanently, or for long period of time, you will find it convenient and economical to have two supports so that regular washing schedule can be maintained.

Follow-up: If you have any problems with your garment please call Yanke Bionics. We can advise you over the phone or a follow-up visit may be required.

Washing Instructions:

  1. Remove pads, stays, and any removable metal parts before washing.
  2. Hand wash in coll or lukewarm water. Use a mild soap such as Woolite
  3. Rinse thoroughly to remove all traces of soap and soil.
  4. Squeeze gently to remove water
  5. Stretch fabric in the vertical direction of the garment, especially at the stay pockets.
  6. Smooth out wrinkles and folds by carefully stretching and smoothing fabric while still damp.
  7. Line dry at room temperature. Avoid direct heat. Do not machine dry.
  8. If ironing is desired, caution should be used as heat may damage elastic material. Low heat is recommended for non-elastic cloth.
  9. Frequent washing will prolong the life of this support by removing body oils and acids that trend to deteriorate the garment fabric.
