Ice Corset
Wear and care advice on a post-operative device
At your initial fitting, our clinicians will take considerable time making sure the orthosis fits properly. Be sure to tell the clinician that is fitting your orthosis if the device feels uncomfortable or causes pain.
* An orthosis is of no help if it does not fit correctly or is uncomfortable.
Using an Ice Corset: In many cases you may be provided with an Ice Corset. This device has two re-usable gel packs that stay frozen for about 2 to 3 hours after they are taken out of the freezer. These packs are placed in velcro pouches, which are located on the back of the Ice Corset. The Ice Corsets wrap around the lumbar spine area and velcros to itself.
The Ice Corset should be worn immediately post-op in bed. It can also be worn at your discretion to alleviate pain and swelling upon going home.
